Over the years, I’ve had a number of Personal Trainers. Typically, I would have worked with them for a few months, lost the weight I wanted to and then stopped working with them. None of my previous trainers ever educated me enough or provided me with the tools and support to be able to carry on my journey and ensure I wouldn’t put the weight back on. In 2019 I wasn’t feeling very positive about myself and decided to sign up to the gym again. I read all the profiles of the PTs at the gym and Tony really stood out to me. He has been through this journey before and that gave me confidence that he would really understand me and support me. After being in the cycle for a longtime, finding Tony was my saving grace - it really has changed my life.
I’ve been working with Tony since November 2019. I’ve never had a PT for longer than a few months but Tony is so much more than a PT. Working with him for so long has been amazing for keeping the new habits and ensuring that this is a lifestyle change.
Very early on, Tony builds a relationship with you. He understands that there’s so many factors which can contribute to the cycle of yo-yo dieting. Although I only pay for a 1 hour session a week, I get so much more than that. I know I can call or text him with any questions I have- nutrition or fitness and it’s that support and personal relationship that has allowed me to reach goals I never thought I would ever achieve. He is so open to explaining everything to you and educating you in everything from nutrition to performance which is something I’ve never had with other PTs but something that has been key to building the foundations of my new lifestyle.
When I started this journey, the goal was a weight loss one. However, as time went on, Tony really changed my mindset from this to performance goals. I suddenly felt like anything was possible and instead of feeling proud that I had lost another stone, I became more proud that I ran my first 5km! It was something I never would have thought possible but Tony came on runs with you (even when they were outside of our sessions), talked me through it all and made sure I never gave up.
Instead of looking at dieting and exercise as a quick way to lose some weight and feel better about myself, I now approach it as a way of working towards goals I never thought I could reach. I like seeing how far I can challenge and push myself. I never dreamed of being the size I am now so I know anything is possible. Tony really has changed my approach to life.
I always knew I would be able to stick with this for a few months because I had done it before with previous PTs and when I said to Tony I probably would quit after that, he simply replied “No you won’t”. That’s the best part about working with Tony, he won’t let you quit. He’s been there before himself and he knows you can do it too, he really believes in you and having someone have so much confidence in you and support you in the way he does, it makes you believe in yourself and that keeps me motivated.
